This year’s World Happiness Report has been released and in news that might not come as much of a surprise, Finland has topped the list of happiest countries for a seventh successive year. In fact, Nordic countries make up the majority of the top 10, with Denmark, Iceland and Sweden at numbers two, three and four respectively and Norway in seventh place. Denmark will soon be home to one of the world’s most powerful artificial intelligence (AI) supercomputers. The Novo Nordisk Foundation, the world’s wealthiest charity, announced on Tuesday that it was entering into a partnership with NVIDIA and the Investment Fund of Denmark to establish a national AI research centre that will be home to the supercomputer. A group of the world’s most prominent human rights organisations is suing Danish authorities over the continued exports of arms to Israel even as more than 30,000 people, most of them civilians, have been killed in Gaza by the Israeli military. A group of Indigenous women in Greenland has sued Denmark for forcing them to be fitted with intrauterine contraceptive devices in the 1960s and 1970s and demanded total compensation of nearly 43 million kroner (€5.8 million), their lawyer said on Monday. More than half of Denmark's drinking water supplies are contaminated with pesticides and other toxins, a new report has revealed. The investigation commissioned by Danske Regioner, which covers Denmark's five regions, also found that one in ten water sources exceeds acceptable levels for various dangerous substances. “The contamination of Danish drinking water has reached a critical point," the organisation said in a press release.
