Marvel’s Eternals is one of the biggest critical and commercial disappointments in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. It had a really talented direector, an incredible cast that included Angelina Jolie, Kit Harington, and Kumail Nanjiani, and one of our favorite weird Marvel comics, created by Jack Kirby. So what went wrong? That’s the subject of our latest ScreenCrush video, which looks back at Eternals, tries to figure out where things went wrong and puts forward a plan that could have changed everything: Making it a Disney+ television series instead of a feature film. We’ll also discuss ...

Disney+’s X-Men ’97rolls on in March, with new episodes every Wednesday through the season finale on Wednesday May 15. Disney+ will also get a documentary about the making of the hit animated show, and it could potentially be an interesting film, given that Marvel fired the series’ creator, Beau DeMayo days before the show premiered on streaming. May also has two very high-profile music docs: The Beatles’ long-unavailable final film, Let It Be, and a new doc about The Beach Boys. The service will also premiere a documentary about Muppets creator Jim Henson, from director Ron Howard. There’s al...

A remastered edition of the Beatles’ Let It Be film will stream on Disney+ on May 8. It’s the first time the film has been available in over 50 years. The new movie was restored by Peter Jackson’s team at Park Road Post Production and contains footage not featured in Jackson’s 2021 Get Back docuseries, which also streamed on Disney+. The original Let It Be film, directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, was released on May 13, 1970, about a month after the Beatles had broken up and a week after the album of the same name arrived. “Peter Jackson seesLet It Be and his Get Back as companion pieces,” Hogg...

We’re at the halfway point of the first season ofX-Men ’97, and this show has already given us ’90s nostalgia, tons of mutant drama, some shocking deaths, boatloads of cameos, clever adaptations of classic X-Men comics, and Magneto’s magnificent hair. If the new trailer for the rest of the season is to be believed, things are only going to get wilder from here on out, with more twists, even higher stakes, and the X-Men ’97 debut of Captain America. Or at least of Captain America’s shield, which makes a brief appearance in the new teaser. Who else would be throwing that thing though? Cap did ma...

Well, that was one heck of an X-Men ’97 episode. This week’s adventure ended tragically, with a cliffhanger that might have involved the deaths of two different X-Men. (We’re just going to hold our breath until next Wednesday and hope for the best.) It also drew on a ton of classic X-Men comics, and carried forward long-standing storylines from the old X-Men: The Animated Series. For the full details on what stories this week’s episode was drawn from, and all of the Easter eggs, references, and little things you might have missed, check out our latest Marvel video below. It takes you through X...

Week after week, X-Men ’97keeps exceeding all of my expectations. What could have been a hollow exercise in ’90s nostalgia has turned out to be a terrific show in its own right: Not just a fitting successor to X-Men: The Animated Series, not just a good cartoon but, at least through its first five episodes, one of the best TV shows Marvel has ever made. The original X-Men cartoon was good for its era, but it was never this good; not narratively, and certainly not visually. This week’s episode, “Remember It,” had everything you could want from an X-Men television series: Epic action, heart-wren...

The fourth episode of X-Men ’97was a combination of multiple storylines from the X-Men comics of yesteryear — plus a ton of Easter eggs, references, and little details you might have missed. If you want help spotting them, that’s what we’re here for. Our latest Marvel video breaks down both of this week’s storylines and where they come from in the comics. We’ll discuss “Lifedeath,” Forge and his appearances on the old X-Men animated series, the Adversary, Genosha, and where all of these teases will likely go through the rest of this season of X-Men ’97. Plus if you didn’t spend as much of the ...

For the first time in five years, there’s a new Descendants movie. The hugely popular series of Disney Channel musical movies about the children of famous Disney villains hasn’t had a full-fledged film since 2019’s Descendants 3. Now the franchise is back with The Rise of Red, which Disney is billing as “the next installment in the mega-hit Descendants franchise.” The new film is premiering on Disney+, although it will also air on Disney Channel this summer as well. You can watch the first teaser for The Rise of Red below. Subscribe to ScreenCrush on Youtube READ MORE: 10 Actors You Forgot Wer...

X-Men ’97has adapted some classic X-Men stories already, including the iconic “Inferno” crossover story that transformed Madelyne Pryor into the Goblin Queen. They’ve also introduced little Nathan Summers and sent him off into the future, where he’ll eventually become Cable. It also adapted Uncanny X-Men #200, which was the trial of Magneto for his past crimes after he decided to reform and take over leadership of the X-Men after the “death” of Professor Xavier. But there’s a pretty big issue that comes with this. In our latest Marvel video, we take a look at the first episodes of X-Men ’97, e...

Disney+ subscribers who also pay for Hulu can watch both on the same app. As of today, you can now stream Hulu’s content on your Disney+ account — provided you are paying for both already. Simply log in to your Disney+ account and look for the Hulu tab among the various other Disney+ brands, like Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. (The image above comes from the Hulu hub on my own Disney+ account. And, yes, my icon on Disney+ is Spider-Man. Would you have expected anything else?) In a press release, Disney said “subscribers will see the full Hulu on Disney+ experience which includes Hulu ti...
