In a report by the Department of Justice (DOJ), it was found that the MCC staff did not properly supervise Epstein and even gave him special treatment. This included allowing Epstein access to an unrecorded phone call, which occurred the night before his death. Epstein was in prison in 2019 while he was waiting for his trial to begin.
