Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant received a 25-game suspension after live streaming himself holding, what appears to be, a firearm on Instagram live on May 13. “Ja Morant’s decision to once again wield a firearm on social media is alarming and disconcerting given his similar conduct in March for which he was already suspended eight games,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver in a statement. This comes after Silver said in a press conference before the start of the 2023 NBA Finals that he had “uncovered more information” about the situation, announcing Morant’s punishment would be finalize...

Another game, another ejection. We’re two games into the Warriors-Grizzles Western Conference Semifinals and it’s already beyond bonkers. Following Draymond Green’s early exit in Game 1, Memphis’ Dillon Brooks received a Flagrant 2 foul and subsequent hook not three minutes into his team’s Game 2 106-101 series-evening victory. As Warriors G Gary Payton II attempted a shot, Brooks tried to swat the ball from behind, but wound up hitting Payton’s head. Payton fell to the floor and hurt his elbow in the process, missing the remainder of the contest. Early reports say it’s a fractured left elbow,...

Memphis’ leading scorer (27.6 points per game), Ja Morant, is expected to miss the next two weeks (at least) with right knee soreness. Morant sustained the injury last Friday against the Hawks and has missed the past two games. He’ll be re-evaluated in two weeks. “[Re-evaluating him in two weeks is] the plan right now,” Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins. “We expect him to make a full recovery before the playoffs.” Morant missed 12 games this season with a left knee issue as well as the game before the Atlanta tilt with a sore back. Team officials say that tests showed no major issues and that rest ...

Be careful wearing the visiting team’s gear to professional sporting events—it could hinder your chances of interacting with a player. Some Golden State Warriors fans learned that the hard way on Tuesday night. Late in the Memphis Grizzlies’ 116-108 victory over the Warriors, Ja Morant drove through the defense for a layup and was fouled by Golden State’s Andrew Wiggins. Prior to heading to the free throw line, an amped-up Morant exchanged a few words with some young Warrior fans—one of whom was looking for a high five. “He was disrespectful with that jersey on,” Morant said after the game. “W...

Ja Morant returned to the court this week as the Memphis Grizzlies took on the Oklahoma City Thunder. The game ended in a 102-99 loss for the Grizzlies. Morant hadn’t been on the floor since suffering a knee injury late last month. The team had gotten off to a rough start after making the playoffs last year, beginning the season 9-10, but in Morant’s absence posted a 10-2 record. Fans were upset by the loss to the Thunder and some blamed Morant. “I was running down the court, and I heard some of my fans courtside tell me I need to sit back out,” Morant said. “So, I just don’t understand what t...

The Golden State Warrior’s unbeaten streak since the start of the season has been broken, and it’s all thanks to Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies. The game went into overtime but ended with a score of 104-101. The Number 2 pick in the 2019 draft outplayed his illustrious opposite number, Stephen Curry, late on and led his team with 30 points, seven rebounds and five assists in 42 minutes of action. Morant excelled in the closing stages, shooting a deep three over Draymond Green with just under four minutes to play and then did a spin move and layup with 58 seconds remaining in overtime. “St...

Donovan Mitchell is not happy right now with the Utah Jazz’s decision to scratch him just before the team’s game one loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. The team leading scorer was incensed at the late decision to scratch him from Sunday’s playoff opener. The decision to scratch him deepened tensions in regards to his recovery from a right ankle sprain. Mitchell has been sidelined since April 16, which was longer than initially expected. The two-time All-Star progressed slowly during the early stages of recovery then. Then Mitchell began to work with his personal training staff on the rehabilitatio...
