Cities introducing low emissions zones have cleaner air than those without, according to preliminary research by health insurers comparing Belgian cities Antwerp, Brussels and Ghent with other cities. Electric vehicles (EVs) that typically weigh more than internal combustion engine-powered cars can easily crash through steel guardrails on roads that are not designed to withstand the extra force.
