Hawks star Trae Young talks 'Tiger King,' Tik Tok and his routine during the NBA hiatus
ATLANTA — Trae Young hasn’t watched “Tiger King” on Netflix yet, but he can tell you pretty much everything about it.The wild documentary that centers around former zookeeper Joe Exotic mostly is set in Young’s home state of Oklahoma, so he’s fielding lots of questions and jokes these days — including from teammates in the Hawks’ first Zoom team meeting this week.“We hadn’t seen each other, talked to each other,” Young said. “A couple of us have definitely reached out and talked to each other, FaceTimed, especially in the video-game world, we’re all playing, but besides that, we hadn’t really ...

As the wait continues, answering four questions about Jadeveon Clowney and the Seahawks
SEATTLE — The hope was that the Seattle freeze — when it came to the Seahawks’ stalemate with Jadeveon Clowney’s, anyway — was finally thawing. On Tuesday, the Seahawks made some long-anticipated moves to cut/waive tight end Ed Dickson and safety Tedric Thompson, creating $5.1 million in cap space. Then early Wednesday came a report that Clowney had dropped his asking price from $20 million a year (or more) to $17-18 million a year. And it was tempting to think that maybe the two moves were related and the Seahawks and Clowney were finally about to meet somewhere in the middle and end his two wee...

Dieter Kurtenbach: Aldon Smith is not a redemption story … yet
I knew Aldon Smith when we were both at the University of Missouri. When he was a teenager who didn’t know that he was superhuman. When he wore a perpetual smile and constantly aimed to please. I never met the Aldon Smith that played in the NFL. To this day, I’m glad I didn’t.Something changed in those years with the 49ers and Raiders, where substance abuse and mental struggles overwhelmed even the most undeniable talents. It overwhelmed what I continue to believe is the real Aldon Smith. But after four years away, Smith is back in the NFL, having agreed to a one-year, $4 million contract with th...

Matt Calkins: With Isaiah Stewart and likely Jaden McDaniels NBA-bound, Washington should be done with one-and-done players
SEATTLE — It was as surprising as San Diego sunshine, but it happened Wednesday. Huskies big man Isaiah Stewart declared for the NBA draft, and the best player to suit up for the Washington men’s basketball team last season is gone for good. His UW teammate, Jaden McDaniels, is expected to make the same announcement at some point, which would leave the two big ones officially done.Such decisions seemed inevitable when the pair signed with the Huskies before the 2019-20 season, but the results on the court were among the more unpleasant surprises this town has seen between the lines. And it begs...
