The pharmaceutical company behind a drug for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) said it would start a process to remove it from the US and Canadian markets. Surgeons carried out the world's first successful transplant of a pig's kidney into a 62-year-old man. The patient Rick Slayman, who had been living with end-stage kidney disease, is expected to be discharged soon. Researchers have developed a test that could detect colorectal cancer with 83 per cent accuracy using a simple blood sample, according to a new study.
