Mike Sielski: Donald Trump showed his true colors long ago, to Colin Kaepernick and the Eagles
PHILADELPHIA — In June 2018, a couple of colleagues and I boarded an Amtrak train to Washington, D.C., to cover an event that wasn’t happening. The Eagles, four months removed from their victory in Super Bowl LII, were supposed to visit the White House that day, to celebrate and be honored for their championship. But so many of them objected to President Trump — his language, his behavior, the ideas and intentions underpinning both — and declined to make the trip that the team’s contingent promised to be a few coaches and players, nothing more. In turn, Trump, with his customary grace, rescind...

KENOSHA, Wis. — An attorney for Kyle Rittenhouse indicated Thursday that he’d pull back from the teen’s criminal defense, hours after prosecutors in Wisconsin sought to block him from participating and alleged in a court filing that his involvement with a fundraising effort “provides ample opportunity for self-dealing and fraud.” Los Angeles civil lawyer John M. Pierce has been the public face of the 17-year-old’s defense against a murder charge and other counts in the three months since the teen fatally shot two men and wounded a third during summer protests in Kenosha.
