The sacking of a pastor at one of Hong Kong’s only LGBTQ-friendly churches has prompted three people to come forward with allegations of past sexual harassment, with two of the alleged incidents dating back more than a decade. Experts said the cases highlight the hesitation that some may feel in making complaints about authority figures in places of worship. Joe Pang, a Malaysian pastor known for his LGBTQ advocacy, was dismissed by The Blessed Ministry Community Church (BMCC) last December after over eight years there. In a February statement, the church said Pang had committed “serious misco...

A Hong Kong transgender activist has launched a legal challenge over the government’s delay in issuing him an identity card matching his gender, despite securing a landmark victory at the top court. Henry Edward Tse filed the bid at the High Court last Friday, alleging that by declining to process his application for a new identity card was discriminatory and a breach of his rights. According to the bid, Tse said he had applied for the gender marker on his identity card to be amended to male last February. His application was made after the Court of Final Appeal ruled that a government policy ...

The Hong Kong government has been given the chance to take its appeals over housing rights for same-sex couples who married overseas to the city’s top court.
