A police officer has died after being called over an altercation at an allotment garden in eastern Germany where officers were met by a violent teenager, police said on Saturday morning. When they arrived at the scene in the allotment in the town of Bad Frankenhausen, an 18-year-old boy lashed out at those around him, hitting officers in the process, police said. The German Police Union (GdP) is calling for a ban on tractors at demonstrations. "The public meeting authorities and the police must react immediately and ban tractors at public meetings," the union's chairman, Jochen Kopelke, told the Thursday edition of the Dusseldorf newspaper Rheinische Post. He added that the police would consistently enforce such a ban.
