Nebraska will be looking for a new athletic director. AD Bill Moos announced Friday morning that he will be retiring from the position, effective June 30. It will end a 40-year career in collegiate athletics. Moos was hired in 2017 with a contract that ran through the end of 2022. He oversaw the major sports hires of Scott Frost for football, Fred Hoiberg for men’s basketball, and Will Bolt for baseball. In total, Moos has hired 12 Husker head coaches. The Ohio State transfer’s lack of playing time for the Buckeyes doesn’t mean he’s short on talent and potential. Nebraska came out of spring ball with two scholarships still available to fulfill the Huskers’ their 25 initial counters for 2021. Of the positions the staff wanted to address, defensive back was top priority. One of the top targets when he became available was former Ohio State defensive back Tyreke Johnson. READ ON

Bill Moos said that a “realistic expectation” for the Huskers this season would be 8 or 9 wins. Another tough schedule for Big Red doesn’t leave much room for slippage for the team to pull this off. 8/28 @Illinois – A must-win game to start the season for the Huskers against a second tier Big 10 team with a new coach coming off an unsuccessful year. Huskers win this one. 9/4 and 9/11 – Back-to-back home games against Fordham and Buffalo should be wins for the Huskers. Nebraska took three major honors Sunday and placed four players on the first team of the all-conference squad as the Big Ten released its baseball awards for the 2021 season. Junior infielder/pitcher Spencer Schwellenbach became the first Husker baseball player to be named Big Ten Player of the Year, Max Anderson was named Freshman of the Year, and Will Bolt earned Coach of the Year honors.
