Britain plans to increase its defence spending to 2.5% of gross domestic product (GDP) by the end of the decade, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Tuesday, which would place the country well above NATO's target. Sunak made the announcement in Warsaw during a joint appearance with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in front of British soldiers stationed in Poland. NATO has set a target for alliance members to spend 2% of their economic output on defence. British spending is currently around 2.3%. According to Sunak, an additional £75 billion pounds ($93 billion) is to be invested in defen...

Moreover, people's specific individual circumstances may not be adequately examined before deportation - contrary to international humanitarian law, they noted. "By shifting ...

A glance at many of the streets in Britain shows little has changed since the days of the Beatles. "I read the news today oh boy. Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire," the band sang back in 1967 in "A Day in the Life." That was then, in the north-west English town. But since then, something does have changed. "Today it's probably more like 40,000," driving instructor Shaun Murray of Blackburn told the Guardian newspaper. Potholes are very much headline news in Britain, sixty years on. They are still a plague for pedestrians and drivers alike. People even celebrate National Pothole Day...
