More people now travel by bike than by car in the centre of Paris, according to a new report. The study by urban planning agency Institut Paris Region (IPR) found that Parisians use bicycles for 11.2 per cent of their trips inside the city centre whereas people use cars for just 4.3 per cent of journeys. It is a market increase from 2010 when IPR found that cycling accounted for just 3 per cent of trips in Paris. Cool paint coatings could help cities feel up to 1.5C cooler, a new study has found. Using paint to counter the ‘urban heat island’ effect is nothing new, but this real-world experiment showed just how impactful it can be. Paris was named the best city for start-up businesses, closely followed by Madrid and Barcelona, in a new report from UK-based training company The Knowledge Academy.
