A Russian Soyuz capsule carrying three crew members from the International Space Station (ISS) landed safely in Kazakhstan on Saturday after the completion of their mission. The touch down took place on the grassland near the south-eastern city of Jezkazgan, the Russian space agency Roscosmos said. Debris from a battery pack discarded by the International Space Station (ISS) three years ago re-entered the Earth's atmosphere over the Atlantic Ocean on Friday, the German armed forces' space monitoring centre said. Spokeswoman Simone Meyer couldn't say where the battery pack landed, noting that "it was “probably largely burnt up." It had previously flown over Germany. Debris from a battery pack discarded by the International Space Station (ISS) three years ago could re-enter the Earth's atmosphere on Friday, German government bodies reported on Thursday. According to the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), the most recent calculations show the pack entering the atmosphere over North America, but this could change, the DLR said.
