The Swedish parliament has passed a law lowering the age for people to change their gender identity from 18 to 16. Those under 18 still need approval from a guardian, a doctor and the National Board of Health and Welfare. The law also stipulates that an official diagnosis for gender dysphoria, a condition of psychological distress experienced by those whose gender expression does not match their gender identity is no longer required. Germany's parliament passed a new law on Friday, easing legal procedures for changing names and gender identity. The 'Gender Identity Act' was widely supported by the ruling 'traffic light' coalition of Olaf Scholz, though debates were fiery and emotional. The final vote count was 374 in favour with 251 against.
