Galactus is coming to devour the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ralph Ineson has been cast as the famous Marvel villain and will appear in the upcoming The Fantastic Four movie from director Matt Shakman. The English actor played Dagmer Cleftjaw in Game of Thrones (and Chris Finch from the old school British version of The Office) and is a very busy character actor in Hollywood. You might have recently seen him in The Creator and this spring’s The First Omen. He’ll soon appear in Robert Eggers’ remake of the horror classic Nosferatu. (He previously appeared in ...

The X-Men ’97opening credits have been changing a little bit every single week, as characters enter (and sadly exit) the cast, and various X-Menstorylines are remembered or teased. This week, though, had one of the tiniest but best Easter eggs: Because Bastion has turned people into “Prime Sentinels” when the credits get to the shots where Magneto and his Brotherhood of Mutants charge at Professor X and the X-Men, the ordinary people caught in the middle of the conflict are …Prime Sentinels. But that’s just one of the many Easter eggs, hidden Marvel references, and little details you might hav...

Chris Hemsworth is one of the longest-tenured members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this point. The only original Avengers left standing besides him in 2024 are Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk (who hasn’t been around as long as Hemsworth’s Thor), and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. While the first couple Thors weren’t exactly massive hits, they did respectable business. And then with the Avengers movies and especially Thor: Ragnarok, Hemsworth really came into his own as a comic leading man. (No pun intended.) Those films brought him a ton of praise and attention, and really ...

Is superhero fatigue a real thing? Is the Marvel Cinematic Universe in trouble? That depends on who you ask. But according to one of the Russo brothers — directors of most of the most successful Marvel films including Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, the company’s recent box-office woes have nothing to do with an oversaturated marketplace or audience fatigue. Instead, Joe Russo told GamesRadar the issue lies in something even more fundamental to movies as a whole: “A big generational divide about how you consume media.” As Joe Russo put it… There’s a generatio...

While Marvel’s cinematic universe has gotten increasingly complicated in recent years, the director of Deadpool & Wolverine says you won‘t need to have seen any of it — or any of the prior Fox X-Men movies — before his film. Shawn Levy told Associated Press that despite the 20+ prior Marvel films and 10+ Fox X-Men movies all predating this team-up between Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, none of it is essential to understanding or enjoying their upcoming film. “I am definitely not looking to do homework when I go to the movies,” Levy explained. “I very much made this film ...

Another week, another huge episode of X-Men ’97. The Easter eggs start early this week; as we see that the team roll call in the opening credits has been changed to remove Magneto and Gambit (RIP?) and to add Nightcrawler, who looks to be joining the X-Men full-time moving forward. But did you notice that the logo that accompanies Nightcrawler in the opening credits is the same logo that adorned the cover of his solo Marvel comic from the 1980s? Yup, it’s true. That’s just one of the many Easter eggs, hidden references, and little details you might have missed in the latest episode of X-Men ’9...

Thor: Ragnarokand Thor: Love and Thunderwere both from the same director, Taika Waititi, and featured much of the same cast, including Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder. They both have very similar plot structures; they start with humorous recap monologues that lead to big fight scenes followed by a return to Asgard (or New Asgard), when a new villain with a personal beef with Thor is unleashed, then Thor heads to another planet where a comedic secondary villain tries to imprison him, leading to a big battle, an escape, and then an ending that involves Thor making a noble sacrifice to atta...

At CinemaCon this week, Marvel announced a small but significant change to their upcoming movie Thunderbolts. From now on, the official title of the movie is… Thunderbolts.* With an asterisk. Why an asterisk? While Marvel’s Kevin Feige confirmed the new title at CinemaCon, he wouldn’t explain it. “We won’t talk about the asterisk until after release,” he explained. You can see the new title treatment for the film — complete with asterisk — below. Avengers: Endgame was supposed to be Robert Downey Jr.’s farewell to Tony Stark, Iron Man, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And maybe it still will be. But Downey is not ready to close the door on never returning to Marvel. Downey told Esquire in a new interview that he would “happily” return to the MCU under the right circumstances — even after Downey just won an Oscar playing a decidedly un-Iron Man-like role in a decidedly un-Marvel-like film, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Asked if he would consider more Marvel projects, Downey said he woud… Happily. It’s too integral a part of my DNA....

While Jonathan Majors could have been sentenced to up to a year in prison for his conviction for assault and harassment stemming from an incident with a former girlfriend in New York City in March of 2023, Majors was officially sentenced today instead to a year of domestic violence counseling. The judge in Majors’ case, Judge Michael Gaffney, said the sentence was due to his lack of prior arrests or a criminal history. Per Variety, Majors “must complete a 52-week, in-person domestic violence programming in Los Angeles, where he currently resides” and “must continue the mental health therapy he...
