Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday condemned the US authorities` response to ongoing pro-Palestinian protests in universities across the United States. "We, like the rest of the world, have been following the events in American universities for the last week with great interest," Erdogan told a conference on Palestine in Istanbul. Protesting students have been "threatened" in Western colleges, Erdogan said. "We have seen how those who have lectured us for years about democracy and freedom of expression and assembly suddenly become fascist when it comes to Israel and Israel's inte...

Germany and Malaysia must both use their influence to reach an amicable solution to the war in Gaza, despite their opposing views on the conflict, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said on Friday. Anwar credited German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for being “very accommodating” in seeking to understand the position of Malaysia – a predominantly Muslim country - towards Gaza and the Islamist Hamas organization, which Kuala Lumpur refuses to recognize as a terrorist group. “I don’t buy this propaganda,” Anwar said in an interview with dpa, adding: “We see freedom fighters. The West see terrorists...

“Vote blue no matter who” was Madelyn Shick’s mantra before she could even vote after former US president Donald Trump's rise in 2016. She argued with people supporting third party candidates, but now she’s on the other side of that dispute. Shick, 22, said she can’t vote for any candidate who hasn’t already called for a permanent ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war, including President Joe Biden. “It’s hard to say that Trump will be much worse, and that’s coming from someone who wore Biden shirts, wore Biden pins, and really, really, really, thought we had to keep Trump out,” said Shick, a rece...

The European Union on Monday announced a review of its funding for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and that payments would be stopped until the end of February. The EU demanded an “urgent audit” following the allegations by the Israeli authorities that some UNRWA staff participated in Hamas’s October 7 attack. “What is absolutely clear is that these actions are urgent. They are important and they should be launched without any delay," European Commission spokesman Eric Mamer said. The audit must be led by EU-appointed experts and conducted alongsi...
