A police officer has died after being called over an altercation at an allotment garden in eastern Germany where officers were met by a violent teenager, police said on Saturday morning. When they arrived at the scene in the allotment in the town of Bad Frankenhausen, an 18-year-old boy lashed out at those around him, hitting officers in the process, police said. A 52-year-old homeless man has died after being shot by an officer during a police operation in the western German city of Dortmund on Wednesday evening. According to initial witness statements and bodycam footage, he was armed with a 2.5-metre-long iron bar from scaffolding. Before the emergency services arrived, he had used it to beat another homeless man, police reported on Thursday.
