Catalonia is holding a regional election on Sunday, the outcome of which is set to reverberate across national Spanish politics. More than 5.7 million voters are eligible to vote in a ballot that's set to be a test both for the strength of the separatist movement in the wealthy northeastern part of Spain and for the policies of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. Voters have begun heading to the polls in the Basque Country. Both the EH Bildu party - descending from the political wing of the terrorist group ETA - and the PNV are predicted to need backing from the Basque Socialist Party (PSE) to garner enough votes to rule in the 75-seat regional Parliament.
