It seems you can’t keep a good serial killer down. After eight seasons on Showtime, and a full-fledged revival series a few years ago, Dexter is returning in prequel form. Officially titled Dexter: Original Sin, the new show follows the infamous serial killer who kills other killers prior to the original series, which aired on Showtime from 2006 to 2013. We love watching TV because we love watching a story evolve over a long period of time, building and altering character relationships, introducing new plot elements, and even sometimes changing the setting. Characters are rarely the same going out as they were coming in, and by the end of a show, especially a very long one, we know that things likely won’t look the same in the finale as they did in the premiere. Sometimes, the inevitability of change means the loss of certain characters. Whether it’s for story reasons, or contract obligations, or because of set drama, or creative differences, ...

One of the most critically acclaimed movies of the summer isn’t in theaters; it’s on Netflix. (Actually Netflix is putting this movie in theaters for a week or two, which is a change for them. But mostly people will see it it on Netflix.) It’s Hit Man, directed by Richard Linklater and starring Glen Powell as a man who pretends to be a hit man and falls for a potential client. The film got great reviews at last fall’s festivals and was acquired for release on Netflix. That’s just one title out of dozens of new ones that you can watch on Netflix in June. There are new episodes of the That ’70s ...

There he is: Geralt of Rivia. Or, at least, he is now. That’s Liam Hemsworth — not Henry Cavill — in the first look at the upcoming fourth season of Netflix’s TV version of The Witcher. Cavill starred in the first three seasons of the show as Geralt. Hemsworth was announced as Cavill’s replacement in the central role back in the fall of 2022. Today, Netflix debuted a very brief teaser, amounting to just a handful of shots. But they do include a clear close-up of Hemsworth as Geralt. And, really, he doesn’t look that much different than Cavill. Take a look at the teaser below. Subscribe to Scre...

It’s been more than three years since Marvel fans saw Paul Bettany’s Vision; the character was left with a massive cliffhanger following the events of WandaVision, which saw his synthetic body reconstituted without its memories or personality. (His traditional green and red coloring was replaced with an all-white color scheme as well.) What happened to this new white Vision has been up in the air since then — but will now be explored in a new Disney+ TV series from Marvel. Variety reports that Marvel has brought in Star Trek: Picard producer Terry Matalas to create the next chapter in Vision’s...

It seems like everyone is a Bridgerton fan, including Pitbull! The rapper’s collaboration with Ne-Yo and Afrojack, “Give Me Everything,” was used in the infamous carriage scene between this season’s couple Penelope and Colin. The Grammy-winning musician shared his reaction on Instagram after the hit show dropped part one of Season 3 last week. “This again shows the world how music is the international language that transcends over boundaries more so how a hit song can remain timeless. Thank you @bridgertonnetflix and @netflix for the opportunity, Dale!” he wrote, sharing a clip from the show. ...

The cause of Friendsstar Matthew Perry’s death has been clear for months: Perry died from “acute effects of ketamine.” Perry, who had a long history of substance abuse issues, was found unresponsive in the hot tub at his home in Los Angeles on October 28. He was only 54 years old. According to the medical examiner’s toxicology report at the time, “Perry had taken ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety a week-and-a-half before his death.” However “the ketamine in his system at the time of his death … could not be from that infusion therapy, since ketamine’s half-life is 3 to 4 hou...

If you watched the recently-concluded X-Men ’97on Disney+, you may have noticed the series had a small but important difference from the Marvel’s previous Disney+ series. Instead of opening with the traditional “Marvel Studios” animated logo featuring clips from previous Marvel Cinematic Universe films and series, it began with a slightly different logo for something called “Marvel Television.” You may have simply assumed that the change was meant to indicate X-Men ’97 was animated instead of live-action, but apparently that’s not the case. A new article claims the new logo is part of a delibe...
