On Friday, former American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler‘s husband of 13 years, Kyle Jacobs, died by suicide.
He was 49, and had shot himself in the house.
At 1:21 p.m., the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department received a call from a home on Sneed Road, and upon arriving at the scene, found Jacobs dead in an upstairs room.

“Mr. Jacobs’ wife, Kellie Pickler, reported that she awoke a short time earlier, did not see her husband and began looking for him,” read a statement from MNPD. “After she and her personal assistant were unable to open the door to the upstairs bedroom/office, the assistant telephoned 911.”
The day before, Jacobs, who is a songwriter himself and has worked with big names like Kelly Clarkson and Tim McGraw, celebrated country singer Lee Brice’s fifth studio album Hey World going platinum — a project that he had contributed to as a composer and producer.
Pickler and Jacobs co-starred on the I Love Kellie Pickler show for three seasons.
After placing sixth in the fifth season of the singing competition American Idol, Pickler went on to have a successful country singing career, her third album 100 Proof recognized as the No. 1 country music album by Rolling Stone in 2012.
