At the young age of 19, Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown has announced her engagement. The news has incited a major online discussion among many, including celebrities and social media influencers.

After the news broke that Brown intends to marry her long-time boyfriend, Jake Bongiovi, 20, the phrase “She’s 19” started to trend online. Bongiovi is the son of rock icon, Jon Bon Jovi.

When the announcement of her engagement hit social media, the Enola Holmes star generated a great deal of buzz, with numerous congratulatory messages pouring in from thousands of fans.

Celebrities like Paris Hilton, Aaron Paul and many others shared their love and support for the engagement on Brown’s Instagram post, which shows a black and white image of the couple embracing, while a ring can be seen resting on Brown’s finger.

Even the verified Instagram account itself commented, “congratulations millie and jake

Following the online outcry about Brown’s engagement, fans began drawing comparisons between the lives of various celebrities during their teenage years. Although Brown has been in the public eye since the age of 11 and is now engaged, an old Instagram comment from Grande resurfaced, in which she stated, “I wasn’t even allowed to leave my house until I was 20,” written on a post of Brown’s some years ago.

Some less-supportive comments criticized Brown’s decision to get married at such a young age. A trend amongst many of the comments were people sharing the childish behaviors they exhibited at her age. While it is common for fans to scrutinize and comment on the life choices of celebrities, some have asked for those who wish to judge the couple based on their to hold their tongues. A comment on Brown’s post by one fan with over 500 likes acknowledges the famous couple’s right to whatever they choose.

“We do not know these people. Yes they’re PEOPLE first before they are celebrities to pick apart. If you truly are fans then celebrate the fact that what we see is they are happy, they’re in love they are in a healthy, supportive, relationship and not like other immature ones that we’ve seen FROM THE OUTSIDE and this is a next step for them.
