The political action committee paying Donald Trump’s legal fees has requested a $60 million contribution refund. The PAC originally donated the money to another group supporting the Republican presidential frontrunner.

Trump’s request indicates a potential money crisis for the former president, who has been diverting campaign funds toward paying his legal team.

The PAC, Save America, has spent more than $40 million of donor cash on Trump’s legal fees this year, in addition to the $16 million spent throughout the last two years on legal fees. He is not only using campaign money to support himself throughout his trials but also to support his allies, for whom he has been paying lawyers.

The former president is currently facing several criminal charges, ranging from willful retention of national security information to hush-money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 campaign.

Earlier this year, he began channeling a large percentage of every campaign dollar raised to Save America. Political experts are torn on whether or not such a practice is ethical, and many of Trump’s opponents have condemned him for taking advantage of his supporters, most of whom are not nearly as wealthy as him.

It is still unclear how much money was refunded. The number will be listed in the Save America Federal Election Commission filing that is expected to be released on Monday.
