The sheriff of Fulton County has announced that if Donald Trump is indicted locally then he will have to take a mugshot.
Sheriff Pat Labat stated that his office is currently in preparation for the possibility that Trump will be indicted in Fulton County. If he is, he will be treated as a person who has been accused of a crime, which will include a mugshot and fingerprints.
“Unless somebody tells me differently, we are following our normal practices, and so it doesn’t matter your status, we’ll have a mugshot ready for you,” the sheriff told Atlanta’s WSB-TV.
In addition to this, the Fulton County Courthouse will have to increase its security if Trump is indicted. They have already set up security barricades in front of the courthouse last week. Labat has shared that they are learning from the past arraignments and indictments in Miami, New York and D.C. and will apply it in Atlanta. Additionally, they are working in consultation with federal, state, county and local law enforcement so that if this indictment does occur they will be ready.
Trump is currently facing three separate indictments over the classified documents, overturning the 2020 election and the money he paid to Stormy Daniels. In these indictments, Trump has not had his mugshot taken nor has he been handcuffed.
Fulton County is currently investigating whether Trump broke any laws when he allegedly attempted to overturn the election results in Georgia, which he lost to Joe Biden.

DA Fani Willis, who is leading the investigation, started the case after Brad Raffensperger, Georgia’s secretary of state, received a call from Trump in January 2021. In this phone call, Trump suggested to Raffensperger that election officials could assist him in “finding” improperly cast votes for Biden, which would then be removed from the count, which would throw the election to him.
Trump attempted to have the investigation quashed in July, but his request was dismissed by the Georgia Supreme Court.
