Baked Apple Surprise

Ingredients for 4 people:

50 g each dried figs, apricots, dates and cranberries
150 ml orange juice
40 g walnuts
150 g crème fraîche
50 g marzipan paste
4 tart apples
Also:
Butter for the ramekins

Preparation:

1. Dice figs, apricots and dates very finely. Together with the cranberries orange juice in a saucepan and boil over high heat until the liquid evaporates.

2. Chop walnuts and mix into the fruit. Remove 4 heaped. Stir crème fraîche into the rest of the fruit. Dice the marzipan and add to the mixture.

3. Rinse apples, cut off one lid. Cut out apples with an apple corer and fill with some of the fruit.

4. Butter the cocottes and fill with the fruit-crème fraîche mixture. Place apples
into them. Spread the remaining fruit on top and place the lids on top. Bake in
preheated oven at 180 degrees (gas: level 2-3, convection oven: 160 degrees) for 25-30 minutes.

Tip: Serve the baked apples with vanilla sauce, if desired.
