Houston Rocketsguard Kevin Porter Jr. has been accused of assaulting his girlfriend, a former WNBA player, inside a hotel in Manhattan. The victim is said to have suffered a fractured bone in her neck while Porter was choking her.

According to the NYPD and other police sources quoted in the media, the police received a 911 call for an assault at the hotel, after which they reached the hotel and arrested the 23-year-old pro baller. The incident took place at the four-star Millennium Hilton New York Hotel.

The police said they found Porter’s girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, with a cut on her face. She was also complaining of neck pain, according to the police. Porter is said to have beaten Gondrezick many times, placing his hands around her neck.

Reports indicate Gondrezick was sleeping and woke up when Porter began to beat her up. She was taken to a hospital for a check-up and was said to be in stable condition.

Porter has been charged with assault and strangulation. According to the prosecutors, Porter kept hitting his girlfriend until she ran out into the hallway of the hotel, where the staff found her. The Rockets issued a statement on Monday, saying they were “in the process of gathering information surrounding the matter”, but did not comment further.

BA Commissioner Adam Silver said Wednesday that the league had opened an investigation into Porter’s actions in order to determine if he can play through court proceedings.

“The allegations here are horrific, no question about it,” Silver said. “But I don’t know anything more about the actual facts, other than reading those allegations. We’re not in season. … We have a bit of time to decide whether it would be appropriate for him to go to training camp or not.”

Meanwhile, the victim’s sister took to Instagram, threatening to hurt Porter over the alleged assault, in a profanity-laced message.

“If you thing you gone touch my sister & not get touch. Count ya f—–g days. Better hope and pray you’ll be able to ever walk again let alone dribble,” the Instagram post read. “Don’t show up to that crib. We gone do it to you,” she wrote.
