Los Angeles police are investigating the deaths of two models, who were both found dead in their apartments just two days apart.

Nichole Coats, 32, was found dead on September 10 by her father and aunt when they went to check in on her after days of zero contact. The last time they had any communication with Coats was on September 8, when she told them she was going out with someone.

Coats’ aunt, May Stevens, told KTLA that she believes her niece’s death was a murder as she said she couldn’t recognize Coats and was found with her legs in a kicking position.

“I don’t know who she went out with or what transpired there. I have no idea but I’m going to find out,” said Sharon, Coats’ mother. “So if you’re out there, you’re going to get caught. You’re messing with the wrong person.”

Two days after Coats was found, Maleesa Mooney, 31, was also found dead in her apartment, and a statement by the Los Angeles Police Department said that their “investigation revealed that Maleesa Mooney had been murdered inside of her apartment.”

Authorities were called to do a welfare check on Mooney after her family grew suspicious when one week passed without any contact from her.

Mooney’s cousin, Bailey Babb, said they “knew something was off.”

“Her messages weren’t delivering and we knew something was up because we all have a special relationship with Maleesa,” Babb said.

While there was concern of a predator on the loose, Los Angeles police provided an update on September 19 that there was no evidence of the two deaths being related. Both cases are still under investigation.
