Gaza’s Health Ministry Says 10,000 People Have Been Killed In Israeli Bombing

GAZA CITY, GAZA - OCTOBER 10: Friends and relatives mourn the bodies of Palestinian journalists Muhammad Sobh and Saeed Al-Taweel, who were killed during their work by Israeli air strikes on October 10, 2023 in Gaza City, Gaza. Hundreds have...

The Health Ministry in Gaza now claims that 10,000 individuals have been killed in Israel’s continuous air raids on the Palestinian territory.

Last week, after President Joe Biden stated that he did not believe the figures provided by the Palestinians, the Health Ministry provided a roster containing information such as the name, age, gender and identification number of every individual who died in the bombing, including 2,665 minors.

The ministry has clarified that the identity of 281 more individuals who perished cannot be disclosed since they cannot be identified.

White House spokesperson John Kirby referred to the ministry as a puppet for Hamas last week but did not deny that many Palestinians, including innocent civilians, had been killed.

This disagreement emphasizes the challenges in accurately reporting casualties in Gaza since the start of the recent Israeli attacks which are a reaction to the Hamas assault in Israel on October 7.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza and the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank both publish daily figures for the number of people affected, but the Palestinian Authority is headed by a different group than Hamas, which controls Gaza. Nonetheless, the Ministry of Health collaborates with the Gaza ministry.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military has declared that they are increasing their ground operations in the north of Gaza, as the area is being bombarded with the heaviest Israeli attacks seen in this war thus far.

Hamas, which governs the Strip, has vowed to respond to these attacks with full force following the ground operations that took place overnight, while the Israeli army has confirmed that their soldiers remain active on the ground.

As a result of the bombing, hundreds of buildings and houses have been completely destroyed.
