There’s a Minecraft movie in the works and it will apparently feature Jack Black.
After the success of the Super Mario Bros. Movie, many other video games are getting the movie treatment. One of those games is Minecraft, a cultural phenomenon focused on community and building. And just like the Super Mario Bros. Movie, the Minecraft movie is looking to have a star-studded cast.
Jack Black may voice Steve in Minecraft movie
Jack Black was one of the most-talked-about parts of the Super Mario Bros. Movie. He was not only the voice of Bowser but broke out into a heart-felt and humorous song about marrying Princess Peach that became a cultural phenomenon.
It looks like the Minecraft movie also wants to tap into Black’s talent and popularity as a voice actor.
Deadline first reported that Jack Black was going to lend his voice to the Minecraft movie. It wasn’t a stretch since Black also voiced Bowser in the Mario movie and has also been reported as the voice of Claptrap in the upcoming Borderlands film. He has also been involved in Minecraft material before, including an audiobook.
Deadline didn’t confirm what role Black would play but some believe he will be voicing Steve, the movie’s protagonist. Dateline previously reported, however, that Steve would be voiced by Jason Mamoa. Maybe Black will play another villain or narrate the film in some way.
When is the Minecraft movie coming out?
The Minecraft movie is coming in April 4, 2025. This is quite far away but we should expect a lot more information throughout 2024.
