Police say over 338,000 people witnessed Sunday’s fireworks display.

Lana Wong, a 93-year-old Hong Kong actress, visited the Wong Tai Sin Temple in a “dragon lady” costume on Friday, the Chinese New Year’s eve. The actress, who has drawn attention each year when she tries to secure a spot for the first incense offering in home-made costume resembling that Chinese year’s zodiac sign, had moved to the US last August.Photo: Kyle Lam/HKFP.

“We’re all here to welcome the Year of the ‘Loong,'” Chief Executive John Lee said at Saturday’s parade in Tsim Sha Tsui. “In Chinese culture, the “loong” – people usually call it the dragon – symbolises nobility, good fortune and vitality. It’s going to be a year of auspicious opportunities, and dragon-sized blessings for us all.”
