Man City's best and worst players in dominant Copenhagen victory

By Ewan Murray

Copenhagen were unlikely to test reigning European champions Manchester City too often during their last 16 first leg meeting and that proved to be the case in the Danish capital on Tuesday evening.

The Cityzens dominated the entirety of the match and were rarely called upon defensively at the Parken Stadium, with goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden easing Pep Guardiola's side to a commanding 3-1 win.

There were some delightful performances from the visitors in Denmark, with Man City's only frustration being that they didn't find the back of the net more often.

Here's how the players got on in 90min's player ratings.

Kevin De Bruyne - 9/10

The Belgian is playing like a man possessed since returning from injury and he was at his blistering best in Copenhagen. His goal was taken with typical grace from a tight angle, while his relentless pressing and determination forced the second.

The midfield maestro kept plugging away and managed to grab a late assist for his partner in crime Foden, putting the game, and the tie, beyond any doubt.

De Bruyne produced an effortless display as he glided across the turf for 90 minutes and he was at the heart of Man City's best moments on Tuesday evening.

Honourable mention

Phil Foden - 9/10

Player of the match was a coin toss between De Bruyne and Foden, both players putting in dazzling displays. The 23-year-old's calm late finish was the icing on the cake and his tactical flexibility caused Copenhagen's backline all manner of issues.

Drifting from the right wing into more central positions and interchanging with the similarly delightful Silva, it was another breathless performance from the supremely talented England international.

Ederson - 5/10

It was an extremely quiet evening for Man City's defence, with Copenhagen's only real moment of encouragement coming from Ederson's unusual error. Normally so competent with the ball at his feet, his mis-hit pass eventually led to Magnus Mattsson's terrific equaliser.

Other than picking the ball out of his own net in the 34th minute, the Brazilian had nothing else to do at the Parken Stadium, but his error did, albeit very briefly, put Man City under unnecessary pressure given their dominance.
