Real Madrid lead way in 2023 revenue, nine English clubs in top 20

Spanish giants Real Madrid lead the way when it comes to football revenue in 2023 while the rich English Premier League has nine clubs in the top 20, according to the latest financial report from the continental body UEFA.

The report published on Thursday listed Real's revenue at €841 million ($901 million), leading the way from Champions League holders Manchester City (€836 million), Barcelona (€815 million) and Paris Saint-Germain (€804 million).

City and PSG are under Abu Dhabi and Qatari ownership, respectively.

UEFA said that 15 of the top 20 clubs recorded record revenue, and that of sixth-placed German champions Bayern Munich alone rose by €90 million to €744 million.

Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle United, West Ham and Brighton & Hove Albion are the other English clubs in the top 20.

The might of the Premier League was also shown in total revenue, which UEFA gave at €6.5 billion for 2022.

This matches the combined figure of the next best leagues, Spain's La Liga (€3.3 billion) and Germany's Bundesliga (€3.2 billion).

UEFA said overall revenue across the continent was a record €24 billion in 2022 and projected to rise beyond €26 billion in the 2023 figures.
