Ian Wright says he wishes Chelsea’s Cole Palmer was at Arsenal

Chelsea signed Cole Palmer from Manchester City last summer for an initial £40 million fee.

The talented attacker was under Pep Guardiola when we beat them in the Community Shield. He scored an absolute stunner in that game but still ended up on the losing side.

Since joining Chelsea, Palmer has been impressive. He has scored 12 goals and provided nine assists in all competitions, which is an excellent return for a 21-year-old.

Ian Wright seems really impressed with Palmer. He has now claimed on his podcast that he wishes that the Chelsea man was at Arsenal instead right now.

He said: “I wish we (Arsenal), I don’t want to say who I’d have had him in for, but I’d have loved to have had Cole Palmer.

“I heard someone saying something that he’s like Mahrez, but he’s not that player, he has so much more.”

Palmer would not start for Arsenal

Cole Palmer is a terrific talent, we’re not going to debate that for one second. However, there’s no way he would start regularly for Arsenal.

The Chelsea man has mostly played on the right wing or in an attacking midfield position this season.

Those roles are occupied by Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard at Arsenal – they’re both levels above Palmer in everything they do.

As a backup, however, Palmer would’ve been a decent signing for Arsenal, but we don’t think Manchester City would’ve sold him to Mikel Arteta‘s side last summer.
