‘I don’t think’: Ted Kravitz now can’t see ‘incredible’ 65-year-old following Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari

Sky Sports reporter Ted Kravitz has suggested that he can’t see Red Bull Racing chief technical officer Adrian Newey following Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari.

The world of Formula 1 was rocked when the seven-time world champion announced he would be leaving Mercedes at the end of the 2024 season.

During a question-and-answer session on Sky Sports F1, Ted Kravitz admits he doesn’t think the chance to work with Lewis Hamilton is enough to convince Adrian Newey to move to Ferrari.

Anticipation already building ahead of Hamilton’s 2025 move

We’re still a long way away from seeing Lewis Hamilton wearing that famous Ferrari red race suit, but already people are thinking about how he’s going to get on with his new deal.

Eventually, Mercedes will have to stop sharing their secrets and innovations with the 39-year-old, while Ferrari won’t be rushing to give him any inside information until the current season is over.

Ferrari have taken steps forward over the winter and topped the time sheets on days two and three in pre-season.

While they’ll be under no illusions that that suddenly means they’re faster than Red Bull, they’ll hope they’ve at least closed the gap.

One of the main reasons why Red Bull are still leading the way is because of Adrian Newey.

The ‘incredible’ designer has built another car that could dominate Formula 1 for another year.

While Newey admits he’s come close to joining Ferrari in the past, Kravitz can’t see him following Hamilton at the end of the year.

He’s praised the Italian team before and even suggested there was one race last year they should have defeated his unstoppable Red Bull.

But, he’s onto such a good thing with the Austrian team that it’s hard to imagine him leaving in the foreseeable future.

Kravitz doesn’t see Newey following Hamilton to Ferrari

Asked about the 65-year-old’s future, Kravitz said: “No, I don’t think who’s driving the Ferrari is the motivating factor for Newey.

“He’s had many opportunities to join Ferrari in the past. Nothing’s impossible, he might join them in the future, but I don’t think it’s got anything to do with which driver is in the car.

“I think it’s more factors like, where he lives, communication with the team, and potential freedoms for him to do his work are more important to Adrian than designing a car for Lewis or Max, or whoever.”

It would be fascinating to see what Newey could do with Hamilton at Ferrari but as Kravitz has suggested, that’s never been a real motivator for Red Bull’s CTO.

Ferrari have a very strong team in place to design their car already and with new regulations being introduced in 2026, Red Bull’s domination is unlikely to last forever.

If and when Newey finally decides to step away from F1, it might level the playing field after decades of the 65-year-old helping his team win championships.
