‘Played really really well’: Michael Dawson says £7m Nottingham Forest player was superb vs Liverpool

Michael Dawson has given his verdict on the performance of Nottingham Forest midfielder Nicolas Dominguez against Liverpool at the City Ground.

The former Forest defender and Sky Sports pundit was hugely impressed by how well Dominguez played against Liverpool in the Premier League match on Saturday afternoon.

So, what has Michael Dawson said about Nicolas Dominguez? Let’s take a look.

Praise for Nicolas Dominguez display for Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool

Well, Nottingham Forest lost to Liverpool 1-0 at the City Ground in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. Darwin Nunez scored the only goal of the match. It came in the ninth minute of injury time and was hugely controversial.

Nicolas Dominguez started the match for Forest against Liverpool. Forest manager Nuno deployed the 25-year-old as one of two holding midfielders in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Despite being played in a more withdrawn role against Liverpool, the midfielder still broke forward and helped out in attack.

Dominguez worked hard throughout his time on the pitch at the City Ground and passed the ball well before being substituted in the second half due to an injury.

Dawson said on Sky Sports News (4:35 pm, March 2, 2024): “It’s Dominguez, and he had to go off. Danilo has come on.

“He has played really really well for Forest, Dominguez, but it looks like a dead leg or a hamstring, I am not too sure, but the physios had to come on and carry him off.”

My View: Nottingham Forest fans should stay positive

In my opinion, Nottingham Forest fans should be too downbeat after the match against Liverpool. Yes, it was a defeat, but, let’s admit it, it was always going to be hard to win against a team that could end up winning the Premier League title this season.

That Nuno’s side kept the Liverpool attacking players at bay until the final moments of the game shows how good Forest were defensively.

Forest now need to build on this performance against Liverpool and kick on.
