AS Monaco defender Thilo Kehrer still hopes to return to the Germany national team and play the Euro 2024 on home soil this summer.

"My goal is to be a part of the home Euros. Until last June, I was a part of the national team. After that, I didn't play much at West Ham and, therefore, didn't provide any reason to be nominated to the squad," the player told Wednesday's edition of the Sport Bild weekly.

Kehrer is current at Monaco on a loan from West Ham. Since the transfer in winter, he became a regular starter in his new team, but hasn't been contacted by Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann so far.

Kehrer believes that the Germany team is underestimated, despite the recent weak performances.

"I believe that the team is given less credit than is possible. A dynamic can quickly develop during a tournament." With a good start to the Euros, "a positive energy can be developed. Then a lot is possible. I would like to help with that," he said.

Kehrer has played 27 games for Germany, the last one a friendly match against Poland last June.

The Euro 2024 start on June 14, when Germany host Scotland before facing Hungary on June 19 and Switzerland on June 23.
