Germany's Baerbock posts video for women's rights on Women's Day

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has joined numerous female and male counterparts in promoting women's rights via a video posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday, International Women's Day.

Her female counterparts in South Africa, Belgium, Australia, Finland and Mongolia, as well as her male counterparts from France, Spain and Albania, all published similar videos explaining how and why they are campaigning for women's rights.

Baerbock, in her English-language video, says women's rights are an indicator of the state of societies worldwide. "The more women are represented and have equal participation and resources, the stronger the country is - socially and economically."

Greater economic strength, innovative ideas and prosperity are just some of the reasons that show why feminist foreign policy pays off for everyone. The video ends with Baerbock's question: "Why are you fighting for women's rights?"

The videos of her female and male counterparts were shared on Baerbock's X account.

Baerbock initiated the campaign a fortnight ago via her network for feminist foreign policy, which includes nearly 30 foreign ministers as core members.
