Report: Nottingham Forest want 12-goal striker compared to Thomas Muller this season

Nottingham Forest are one of four clubs keen to sign Hoffenheim youngster Maximilian Beier – but Liverpool do lead the race at the moment.

This news comes from Sport Bild in Germany.

So, what has been said about Forest and their interest in Beier? Let’s take a closer look…

Nottingham Forest want Maximilian Beier

Well, Forest shouldn’t count their chickens with this one just yet – especially with the club’s Premier League status still firmly on the line.

The major takeaway from the report from Sport Bild right now is that Liverpool are the best place club to bring Beier to the Premier League.

It’s mentioned in the report that Xabi Alonso is a huge fan and he would love to sign him for Liverpool if he gets the chance to replace Jurgen Klopp in the summer.

This season, the player has been a man on a mission, scoring 12 goals and claiming five assists for Hoffenheim.

One of the reasons that Liverpool are in pole position to sign Beier is the £30 million valuation placed on him by the Bundesliga club.

Although Forest would be in the market for a new striker if Premier League survival is secured, it’s likely they will have to cut their cloth accordingly.

Forest have Taiwo Awoniyi, Chris Wood and Divock Origi as their striker options.

Awoniyi has struggled with a number of fitness problems, whilst there is a genuine possibility that Wood and Origi will both depart in the summer.

Who is Maximilian Beier?

The 21-year-old is going to be a seriously hot property in Europe when the summer transfer window opens.

Forest-linked forward Beier moved to the Hoffenheim academy from Energie Cottbus and has now burst onto the scene.

Before making an impact with Hoffenheim he was with Hannover 96 and there he scored 15 times in 68 appearances for the club.

Beier can play anywhere across the front three, although this season he’s largely been deployed as a centre-forward.

The gem hasn’t been selected for Germany just yet but the latest report linking Forest with a move for Beier suggests that Julian Nagelsmann is now watching him closely.

Journalist Christian Falk claimed earlier this year that the player on the radar of Forest is ‘like Thomas Muller’ and that would highlight he has vast talent.
