'Information confirmed': Tottenham now want £42m defender who's made more tackles than Romero - journalist

Tottenham are really keen to sign Eintracht Frankfurt defender Willian Pacho in the summer transfer window.

Spurs are having a very good season, aren’t they? They are now just two points behind fourth-place Aston Villa and also have a game in hand over them. There’s every chance they will be in the Champions League next season, and Ange Postecoglou will need reinforcements if Tottenham get there. Pacho is a player they want to sign.

Tottenham want to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s Willian Pacho

Tottenham have a solid defence right now, don’t they?

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are the undisputed starters at the back, and they’re both among the best centre-backs in the Premier League.

Radu Dragusin was brought in to provide cover for the above two, and the Romanian is a player with huge potential. He has looked really good every time he has played so far.

In the summer, however, Tottenham are expected to sign another centre-back – mostly likely a left-footed one. Frankfurt’s Willian Pacho is now being reported as a key target.

Sacha Tavolieri claimed at the end of the January window that Tottenham are interested in the Eintracht Frankfurt defender. Yesterday, the same journalist revealed that his information is now ‘confirmed’, suggesting that he is certain Spurs want him.

Arsenal are also in the race to sign Pacho, and the journalist has now claimed that Frankfurt are demanding £42 million to let him go.

Tavolieri tweeted: “Information Confirmed! Spurs on Willian Pacho. Will also face competition from Arsenal, (who are) also targeting the SGE defender.

“Eintracht Frankfurt asked for 50M€! Wait&See!”

Pacho has made more tackles than Romero and Van de Ven

When you think of Cristian Romero, his aggressiveness while defending stands out.

The Argentine is fearless. He’ll do everything he can to win the ball back for Tottenham, and you often see him flying into tackles to regain possession.

Willian Pacho loves tackling too, and his stats prove that. The Ecuador international has attempted 62 tackles in the Bundesliga this season and has won 50 of them (WhoScored).

Romero, on the other hand has attempted two less (58), while his partner at the back, Micky van de Ven, has made just 44 (WhoScored).

The two Spurs defenders, however, have a better success rate when it comes to winning tackles, but Pacho has huge potential, and we think he would improve if he joins Tottenham.
