‘So important’: Eddie Nketiah says ‘aggressive’ Arsenal teammate is incredible in training

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has now praised one of his teammates for just how imperious they also are behind the scenes in training.

The penalty shootout win against FC Porto was perhaps a marker of just how far this team have come, who now believe they can seriously compete for both the Champions and Premier League.

Perhaps Arteta wouldn’t have welcomed a break right now given his side had such good momentum, but the period should also allow the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey to better their readiness.

That being said, it was perhaps a surprise that Arteta turned to Nketiah late on against Porto on Tuesday, a player who has been right on the periphery of things.

But Nketiah’s future aside, the Arsenal forward has now been delivering some praise for a teammate he believes is the best in the league in his position.

Speaking in a Sky Sports interview alongside Reiss Nelson, the pair were asked to write down the best centre-back in the division.

Eddie Nketiah says Arsenal teammate Gabriel Magalhaes trains as well as he plays

Both chose Arsenal teammate Gabriel Magalhaes as the best centre-back in the league, and Nketiah then explained his decision.

The forward said that Gabriel was incredibly ‘aggressive’ in his duels and is both a defensive and attacking threat.

He shared: “You have to look at what he’s doing at the moment man, how well we’re defending at the back, how much of a threat he is in the opposing box as well.

“So important, he’s chipping in with a lot of goals, scoring quite a lot, so for me his aggression in his duels, and we see him every day, how aggressive he is, he trains like how he plays.”

Of course, it may be surprise to a few Arsenal fans that Eddie Nketiah didn’t choose a different teammate, namely William Saliba.

Saliba has often been considered the stronger of the pair, even if both he and Gabriel are clearly among the best in the Premier League.

But neither Nelson nor Nketiah seemed to have any doubt when choosing their Brazilian teammate.

All that being said, it seems as if Saliba may now miss the start of next season.
