What is the weeping cherry tree at Seiunji Temple?

There are about 30 weeping cherry trees, including one that is about 600 years old and another that is about 250 years old. The approximately 600-year-old weeping cherry tree is said to have been planted by Zen Master Umineko, who founded Seiun-ji Temple in 1446. This weeping cherry tree has been designated as a natural monument by the prefecture.
The best time to see them is usually from the end of March to the beginning of April, and special illuminations are held for four days on Fridays and Saturdays during this period.
