A small, smiling turnip goes on an adventure in a world full of living plants in the rogue-like game “Turnip Boy Robs A Bank."
It might sound sweet and family-friendly at first, but the main character is anything but harmless. Because the turnip in question is a really criminal vegetable deeply involved in a number of crimes.
After the little turnip got into a fight with the tax office in the previous title "Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion," dirty money once again encourages him to commit crimes.
Veggieville is in chaos after a civil war, and the Spice Gang, led by a pickle with a hat and a moustache, wants to capitalize on the situation.
Together with the little turnip, the gang plans a robbery at the bank, where a lot of treasures are locked up behind various layers of protection.
In order to be able to overcome guards and barriers, players are given all sorts of heavy firearms and tools with which to cause chaos and destruction.
In two-dimensional tunnels and bunkers you advance further and further towards the safe, taking hostages and engaging in battles with special units. And if all that wasn't enough, you also have to turn off the sophisticated security systems.
You’re also given additional tasks by various strange characters, which provides a brief distraction from the action-packed bank robbery and also makes the story even more interesting.
In general, it’s the special brand of humour that makes the game stand out. One strange twist follows the next and there’s never a dull moment.
The developers have definitely found the right ingredients for a great turnip-themed game. Thanks to its absurd, action-packed story, the game is an indie insider tip. “Turnip Boy Robs A Bank” is available for PCs as well as Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles for around €15/$15.
