What we know so far

It is believed that Apple will officially unveil iOS 18 at the World Wide Developers Conference in June. Though the California-based expo is still a fair while away, leaks are already spilling out and onto social media.

Engineers are reportedly calling it “one of the biggest iOS updates—if not the biggest—in the company’s history.”

Though the exact nature of the update is still tightly under wraps, the key feature is seemingly the integration of artificial intelligence (AI). Numerous reports suggest that Apple is in conversation with Google to purchase their Gemini AI engine “for a blockbuster agreement that would shake up the AI industry.”

But the deal is yet to go through and Apple is also said to be in conversation with OpenAI and working on its own in-house generative AI models.

But AI is not the only area where the iPhone is slated for a massive upgrade as Siri is expected to become the “ultimate virtual assistant” thanks to the implementation of large-language models (LLMs).

The upcoming release isalso slated to improve communication with Android devices, Accessibility features, design change, and Freeform.

Customer Thoughts on iOS 18

Despite being one of the leading phone manufacturers in the world, Apple is still a highly debated brand. As such, some are considering jumping shift as others put together their iOS 18 wishlist.

“If iOS18 is nuts it may make me reconsider my decision to go with Android next ngl. have a feeling it’s gonna be a monster update,” one person said on Twitter.

Another said: “Fun fact for those who don’t know: Apple works on its “spring” updates alongside its “summer” releases. For example, Apple is currently working on both iOS 18 and iOS 18.4. I wonder if that partly explains why iOS 17.4 and macOS 14.4 have quite a few bugs.”

In his article for 360 Reader, Rajesh Mishra outlined a few of the features he is praying Apple introduces with the upcoming release. His top suggestions included seamless password sharing, better private photo albums, more photo editing software, and even a fully customizable low-battery mode.
