Elden Ring had gamers entranced for all of 2022 and beyond. Now, the twisted fantasy RPG is getting new DLC content in the form of the Shadow of the Erdtree. Here’s everything we know so far about its release date and plot.

When is Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC coming out?

Shadow of the Erdtree is getting released on June 21, 2024.

Shadow of the Erdtree Deluxe Edition

You can currently pre-order Shadow of the Erdtree ahead of its release.

This includes a Collector’s Edition, which comes with the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree expansion code, a 46cm statue of Messmer the Impaler, one of the key boss characters in Shadow of the Erdtree, an art book, and a download voucher for the original soundtrack.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree story

In Shadow of the Erdtree, you will journey to new lands, including the Land of Shadow. You will discover dark secrets as you explore this mysterious place and run into others who followed Empyrean Miquella with ulterior motives. You’ll also discover dungeons with dangerous enemies.

In the main story of Elden Ring, Miquella and his twin sister Malenia were born cursed. This gave Miquella the body of a child forever. He was then chosen to take over Queen Marika’s spot as a new god but he abandoned this to create the Unalloyed Gold in an attempt to treat his sister’s curse, which has her body rotting away. This involved him embedding himself into the Haligtree in hope of achieving godhood but he was abducted during the process by his half-brother Mohg.

So far it seems like Shadow of the Erdtree will continue Miquella’s storyline.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree new content

Shadow of the Erdtree will have new weapons, equipment, weapon skills, and magic that was not previously in Elden Ring. You can use these new powers to take down new enemies and bosses as you explore new plots beyond the main storyline.
