Chinese construction group Radiance misses payment to creditors

Another Chinese construction group has missed a deadline for payments to its creditors.

The Beijing-based Radiance Group announced on the Hong Kong stock exchange on Wednesday evening that it had defaulted on the repayment of a bond worth $300 million.

Radiance said in its announcement that it was "making every effort to find a solution and is endeavouring to maintain close communication with bondholders."

The property developer Country Garden was unable to make a payment on a domestic bond just last week.

Many Chinese property companies have overextended themselves financially in order to be able to grow quickly. Evergrande, the country's largest developer, has accumulated debts of over $300 billion (€275 billion).
