‘It makes complete sense’: Pundit says Liverpool may be smart to sell their ‘unbelievable’ player now

There was a huge rebuild at Liverpool this past summer, but this upcoming summer transfer window may be even more disruptive.

Indeed, the Reds are going to go through a serious change at the end of this season.

Jurgen Klopp is set to leave the club at the end of the season, while there are question marks around the future of many of the Reds’ top players.

One player who has been linked with a move is Mohamed Salah, and links to Saudi Arabia just won’t go away.

Speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Scott Minto has been discussing Salah’s future and a potential move, and he says that it may make a lot of sense to sell Salah this summer.

Selling Mohamed Salah would make sense

Minto spoke about the idea of selling Salah.

“The bottom line from my point of view is that you have a 31-year-old who would probably get into Liverpool’s all-time team and you have to be an unbelievable player to do that. He’s proven he can do that. One year left on his contract. 31 years of age, £150m for someone who could go for free the following season. If the PSR adds up, they may be forced to because financially it makes complete sense, as much as football wise we’d all be disappointed to see Mo Salah leave the Premier League,” Minto said.

Does make sense

As painful as it would be to see Salah leave Liverpool this summer, letting him go would make sense from a financial standpoint.

Think about it, if you had to decide between keeping Salah for one more season and then letting him go on a free or getting £150m to sign a replacement this summer?

Short-term, of course, Liverpool will be a stronger side if they manage to keep Salah, but, at the same time, you need to think long-term if you’re going to have serious success in the coming years.
