Users divided over wearing Easter dress to prom

Prom dress is an individual’s choice. It can be short or long, fluffy or body hugging – whatever suits the person wearing it the best.

However, a significant number of TikTok users are repulsed by the thought of wearing a spring dress to prom, and they haven’t shied away from justifying their reasons.

Finding themselves on the other side of the argument are those who believe in wearing whatever their heart desires for the most memorable event of their life, even if it’s a dress they picked for Easter from the TikTok shop.

The ongoing debate appears to have stemmed from the viral floral dress by Ditsy, supposedly available on TikTok shop for less than $10.

The tiny blue floral pattern covers the ‘silky’ white maxi dress, which can be adjusted to your size using the flexible straps.

Many are fixated on wearing the viral floral dress for Easter and have even shared tips to make it “modest” for church.

And a few others don’t want to stop wearing it, irrespective of the season or the occasion. But some users couldn’t bring themselves to accept the idea of wearing a spring dress everywhere.

Why it’s a big deal for some

For most, prom is one of the most memorable moments of their lives and they spend weeks and months planning for the event.

From the makeup to the outfit, everything is imagined to be perfect and unique to the occasion. So the mere thought of wearing a rather inexpensive seasonal outfit, that too, owned by many, is irking prom lovers.

When one user argued that spring dresses are informal, whereas a prom outfit is meant to be “formal, elegant, fancy and bold.”

“The whole point of prom is that it’s a formal event. The Easter dresses are more of a graduation dress, where it’s less formal. From the bottom of my heart, stop trying to wear them to prom,” commented one.

“I’m quite literally hating. Why are you wearing a brunch dress to prom you silly goose,” wrote another.

But a few others believe, a prom dress, just like any outfit, is an individual’s preference. “Don’t listen to these people. Wear what you want. If you are comfortable in an Easter dress, wear it,” argued one.

When another added: “Biggest defender of wearing whatever you feel comfortable and happy in. ESPECIALLY at prom!
