Home favourite Peter Prevc won the penultimate individual World Cup ski-jumping competition of the season on Friday on the sky-flying hill in Slovenia's Planica.

It is the 31-year-old's retirement weekend and the 2016 World Cup champion saved the best until last with his first victory of the season and 24th of his career.

Prevc jumped 237.5 and 231 metres for a winning score of 452.1 points. Austria's Daniel Huber was second and Norwegian Johann Andre Forfang third.

Austrian Stefan Kraft, who finished seventh on the day, had already wrapped up a third overall World Cup title after also triumphing in 2017 and 2020. He won the Norwegian Raw Air Series too while nearest rival Ryoyu Kobayashi took Four Hills honours.

Ski flying hills are much bigger than large or normal hills and jumpers regularly jump further than 200m.

A team competition takes place on Saturday before the final individual competition of the season on Sunday on the giant Planica hill.
