'Yes': Manchester City star says £225k-a-week Arsenal man would improve Pep Guardiola's side

Manchester City’s side is pretty much perfect. Other than a left-back, it is difficult to find an area in which Pep Guardiola’s team could be improved – but Erling Haaland has picked a player that would.

City remain in the hunt for another Premier League title this season, with Guardiola maintaining the juggernaut that is City’s all-conquering side. They remain in contention for another Champions League.

Ederson is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Kyle Walker is up there as one of the best right-backs in the world, and Anthony Gordon says John Stones is one of the best centre-backs in the world.

Rodri is considered top of the tree in terms of holding midfielders, as is Kevin De Bruyne in terms of playmakers and Haaland when it comes to centre-forwards. City are stocked with quality, everywhere.

Erling Haaland says Martin Odegaard would improve Man City

On the left of defence, Guardiola can improve his side and that is perhaps an area that will be addressed in the summer – but Nathan Ake has been brilliant this season. Even Man City’s depth is wonderful.

Bernardo Silva is the midfielder to play alongside De Bruyne, but they also have Matheus Nunes and Mateo Kovacic. Such a plethora of talent that forced Kalvin Phillips to leave the club on loan in January.

Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku on the wings. Superb options – but Haaland believes £225k-a-week Arsenal captain and Norway teammate Martin Odegaard would improve City, as per The Mirror.

“Yes, I think so, [he would improve City]. There’s a good player, and a player that plays for our rivals. He’s just signed a new contract, so it’s not a topic, but at City we have a lot of best players in the world.”

Odeegard is irreplaceable for Arsenal, he would cost record fee

Enzo Fernandez is currently the record fee, standing at a whopping £106.7m. Odegaard, if a fee was to ever consider Arsenal to sell, would be far, far north of that figure. He cannot be replaced at Arsenal.

Even if Manchester City tried to sign Odegaard by tabling an offer of £150m, you would imagine The Gunners would still look to reject the offer. If Odegaard wants to leave at some point, his contract is key.

Like Kylian Mbappe at PSG – in which he is far too expensive to buy if he has years left on his contract – Odegaard would have to let his contract run down. But as Haaland says, he only recently signed a deal.

Recently,Darren Bent said he could be the man City try to sign as a replacement for De Bruyne in the long term. But, you would imagine that if Arsenal were to sell – City would be the last club he’s sold to.
