'What a player', far too good': Some Liverpool fans wowed by 20-year-old Reds talent's latest international display

Liverpool star Harvey Elliott continues to go from strength to strength for the Reds.

The 20-year-old Liverpool forward has become an important member of Jurgen Klopp‘s Reds squad, with 41 appearances for the Anfield side this season.

Elliott is still awaiting his senior England debut, but he is impressing for the England Under-21s. He is now on 10 goals from 19 caps for the team.

On Friday, the Liverpool talent scored a brace as England’s U21s ran out 5-1 winners over their Azerbaijan counterparts in Baku.

How did Harvey Elliott do for England U21s against Azerbaijan U21s?

Elliott opened the scoring for his nation in the 25th minute, bundling home at the far post following a cross from fellow Reds gem Tyler Morton.

Chelsea’s Noni Madueke then got on the scoresheet four minutes later after converting Jaden Philogene’s cross from the byline.

Hull City’s Philogene then added a third for England early on in the second half to put England well out of reach of their opponents.

Elliott went on to get his second on 67 minutes, firing home to make it 4-0 after good work from Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

And though Ramin Nasirli pulled a goal back for the Azeris on 86 minutes, Leeds United gem Archie Gray netted on his England U21s debut to round off the scoring.

Plenty of Liverpool fans took to X during and after the match to praise Elliott, with quite a few wondering what he needs to do to get in the England team.

Surely it’s only a matter of time before Elliott gets a call-up for the England senior setup. Well, here’s hoping anyway.

It looks as though it’s too late for Euro 2024, but with the UEFA Nations League getting under way later this year and the 2026 World Cup two years away, Elliott certainly has a goal to work towards.
